Peeta "Pop Up The Volumes" Solo Show

PEETA is one of the most popular Italian street artists in the world. His works create the illusion of  depth; his style is unique and recognizable and it sparks from sculpture and industrial design turning into a personal performance of 3D painting. In Hong Kong, just like in London  or Venice, the artist expands the three-dimensional aspect of the portrayed shapes through the use of colour and chiaroscuro.   In "Pop up the volumes", from October 15th to November 26 in the spaces of the Square23 gallery, Peeta retraces the evolution of his style and of all the techniques he used during the past years. From the works "white on white " which play on as studies of sculptural representation in their purest form, to the use of colour to improve the perception of volumes, to anamorphism that modifies the perception of the shape of the very canvas. As far as techniques are concerned, Peeta spaces from aerograph to brushes, from canvas to paper, from painting to sculpture, in a constant rapport between the creation of volumes and their own representation. Peeta will work also on the interior walls of the Teatro Colosseo.   His works, on well as well as on canvas, aim to unveil the deceptiveness of human perception, the fallacy of fixed or narrow point of views through optical illusions that, while attempting to give depth to a painting, end up unveiling their ability to deceive. Besides the continuous research of a technical and formal improvement, the physicality of 3D painting hides a strongly spiritual side to it. «Shades of colour, misalignments, perceptive tricks, are what lays behind a constant unveiling of my personality, of my willingness to send a message, my need to understand myself and tell my story as well as the choice of representing and reiterate my AKA expresses the attempt to self-portrait».BIO Manuel di Rita, brought up in a town surrounding Venice, becomes popular in the early nineties, among the Italian Writers as Peeta. He is part of the EAD  crew of Padua, of the FX crew and the RWK crew, both from New York. His works have sent him, throughout the years, well beyond the Italian borders and his art, thanks to festivals and world famous exhibits, has touched all continents.
